Madison, Wis. – D’Ac Dunn had 25 points and Yanic Konan Nabedehauser added 15 points and 11 rebounds when Penn State recovered in the second half for an 86-75 victory over No. 12 Wisconsin on Saturday, preventing Badgers from making sure a double goodbye in the Big Ten tournament.
Wisconsin (23-8, 13-7) entered the weekend in a three-way draw for third place with No. 13 Maryland and No. 18 Purdue, but could have secured double goodbye with a victory after Illinois’s victory over the Boilermakers on Friday.
John Blackwell and Steven Crowl had 19 points each for Wisconsin, who had won 22 consecutive house games against Penn State, including 19-0 of all time at the Kohl Center.
Penn State (16-15, 6-14), which followed 13 at the end of the first half, was in front 69-62 in the change of Dunn from the lane.
Wisconsin reduced the advantage to 72-70 at Triple Blackwell from the right corner with 3:43 remaining. The Badgers were then without a field goal during the 3:43 finals, losing their last six shots.
Penn State: Nittany Lions Road’s victory in Wisconsin was the first in 30 years, from a 78-67 victory on January 26, 1995 at the UW Field House.
Wisconsin: The initial guard Klesmit was lost his third consecutive game with an injury at the bottom of the leg, but should benefit from the extra rest before the Big Ten tournament
The Nittany Lions closed the first half with an 8-0 race, reducing the deficit to 40-35.
The Nittany Lions fired 60% in the second half, making 18 of 30 shots, including 6 of 11 beyond the arch.
Penn State did not qualify for the Big Ten conference tournament, and would have to receive an offer to play in the Nit and College basketball crown. Wisconsin expects the planting of the Big Ten tournament.
