Greensboro, NC – Kymora Johnson scored 17 points, Lattimore Latasha collected her eleventh double double this season filling the statistics sheet and Virginia moved away in the second half to beat Pittsburgh 64-50 on Wednesday on the first round of the ACC Tournament.

Lattimore had 12 points, 11 rebounds and career maximums with six blockages and five robberies for Cavaliers (17-14), which will play California in the seventh planted in the second round on Thursday. Virginia lost at home against the Golden Bears 76-70 on February 20.

Breona Hurd added 15 points and Paris Clark 11, and each scored six along with Johnson in the third fundamental quarter when Virginia beat Pitt 22-14 and took an advantage of 12 points in the last quarter that remained in double figures.

Khadija Faye had 15 points and 11 rebounds for his 17th double-double this season for the 15th Panthers (13-19) after being without score in the first half. Makayla Elmore added 11 points and Marley Washenitz 10. The second leading scorer Mikayla Johnson was marginalized at the beginning of the second quarter with an injury and did not score.

Virginia triggered only 29% in the first half, but recovered 59% in the second. The CAVs had 11 blockages, exceeding the single season of the program with 176.

Pitt never found his offensive, shooting at 23%, making six triples, but only 8 of 41 shots inside the arch.

Pitt had an advantage of seven points early, but a 19-0 race that covers the opening rooms gave Virginia the advantage forever with the Cavaliers 26-22 in the half time.
