Harrisburg, Pa. – Police said Sunday that officers evacuated Governor Josh Shapiro and his family of the official residence of the governor after someone set fire to the building.

No one was injured and the fire was extinguished, according to the authorities.

The fire exploded during the night on the first night of the Jewish party of Passportthat Shapiro and his family had celebrated at the official residence of the governor in the state capital of Harrisburg. The State Police said in a statement that, while the investigation was ongoing, they were “prepared to say at this time that this was an act of fire.”

The police did not give other details about the cause.

In a statement, Shapiro, seen as a possible white house contender For the Democratic Party in 2028, he said that he and his family woke up at approximately 2 in the morning to hit the door from the Pensylvania state police after the fire broke out.

The Harrisburg Fire Office was called to the residence and, while working to turn off the fire, the police evacuated Shapiro and his family of the residence safely, Shapiro said.

“Thank God, nobody was injured and the fire was extinguished,” Shapiro said in a statement.

The fire caused a “significant amount of damage” to a part of the residence, state police said. Shapiro and his family had been in a different part of the residence, police said.

The State Police said they were leading a multi -legal investigation into the fire.
