Kvitfjell, Norway — Dominik Paris avoided a Swiss sweep of the podium by winning a race downhill of the Male World Cup on Friday, but the Italian veteran could not prevent Marco Odermatt from approaching another general title.

The second place of Odermatt, almost, but seals another general title for the 27 -year -old Swiss star. The 80 race points of the three-time defending champion put 440 ahead of Henrik Kristoffersen, who does not run downhill or super-g, and 655 of his Swiss teammate Loïc Meillard.
Swiss skiers Franjo von Allmen and Alexis Monney were fourth and fifth, respectively.
Paris, 35 years old, also won the World Cup descent races at Kvitfjell in 2016, 2019 and 2022, and Friday’s victory took its account to 19, a second in the list of winners of all time with Peter Müller of Switzerland. Only Austrian skier Franz Klammer won more (25).
Initially, Friday’s race was held in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany on February 2, but that was canceled when The fog avoided both training racing.
