Southgate, Mich. – An explosion destroyed a house before the dawn on Thursday in the suburbs of Detroit, killing a woman who was trapped in the rubble and severely hurting a man who was fly in the front courtyard.
“Both had extensive burns and internal injuries,” Southgate Det. Sergeant Nathan Mosczynski said. “The woman also had extensive leg injury.”
The explosion aroused the neighborhood before 6 in the morning, a sofa crashed into a window on the other side of the street and the debris landed in blocks, some of them hanging from the trees.
“I thought it was thunder at first,” Arturo Ramírez, who lives nearby, He told Detroit’s news. “Then I saw a crack form on my roof.”
A 38 -year -old woman was taken from the rubble inside the house and then died from her wounds, police said.
“At this time it is being treated as a gas -related incident, but the root cause is still under investigation,” said Mosczynski.
