Minneapolis – Jackson Jobe launched six laundered tickets to win his first victory in the Major Leagues on Saturday when the Detroit Tigers beat the Minnesota Twins 4-0.
Spencer Torkelson haunted and drove three races for the Tigers, who have won seven of his last eight.
Jobe (1-0), the third selection of the 2021 amateur draft and General Prospect No. 3 by Baseball America, walked through the alignment of the twins after gaining not decisions in their two previous openings. The 22 -year -old law allowed only three base runners, two singles and one walk, while strucking two batters.
Brenan Hanifee, Tyler Holton and John Brebbia launched a goalless relief entrance for Detroit.
Chris Paddack (0-2) yielded two races, one won, in two hits with two bases per ball and five strikeouts in five entries for Minnesota, which with 4-11 is directed to the second start of the team’s history.
The Tigers took a 1-0 advantage with a race not won in the first entry. Zack McKInry led with a walk, and Kerry Carpenter continued with a helicopter to the right of the second base. Carlos Correa sent the ball cleanly, but its launch in the race was first base, allowing McKInry to take third. Then he scored about Torkelson’s sacrifice fly.
They doubled their advantage in the room when Torkelson connected an initial single and realized a Justyn-Henry Mellow strap.
The reliever Kody Finderburk, recently retired from Triple-A St. Paul, took over Paddack at the sixth entrance. Carpenter led with a single and Torkelson continued with an explosion of the score of the marker on the Bullpen in the left center, giving the Tigers a 4-0 advantage.
Shaky Fielding has hurt the twins during their slow beginning. Correa’s error was the 12th of the team season, and eighth in the last five games, four of them defeats.
RHP Casey Mize (2-0, 0.77) of the Tigers will face RHP Simeon Woods Richardson (0-1, 5.59) at the end of the Sunday series.
