The authorities investigating death after the burned body found in Stone Mountain near Atlanta

Stone Mountain, Georgia – The authorities are investigating the death of the man whose burned body was found near the top of Stone Mountain on the outskirts of Atlanta on Saturday morning.

The body was found near the top of the mountain after a hiker who discovered that he called 911, said Stone Mountain Park police spokesman John Bankhead. The hiker did not leave his contact information with the dispatators, Bankhead said.

Bankhead described the body as an adult man, probably in his 20 or 30 years. The body was not found on the roads used by hikers to climb the mountain.

“It’s in an area, not many people go,” he said.

Death is being investigated by the Georgia Research Office. The body has been taken to Dekalb County Forensic Doctor’s office to determine the cause of death.

Stone Mountain is out of Atlanta and presents a giant size of Confederate leaders, General Robert E. Lee, Confederate President Jefferson Davis and General Thomas J. “Stonewall” Jackson on his north face.
