Brentwood, NH – A best -selling mystery writer has been sentenced to 3 1/2 to seven years in prison after he declared himself guilty of charges of possessing child sexual abuse material.
Brendan Dubois, 65, He was accused for a large jury of the county last year. He appeared in a New Hampshire court on Thursday after prosecutors agreed to leave two of six positions of possession against him as part of a guilt.
Dubois was arrested in Exeter last July. He has been in jail since then, so more than eight months can be accredited to his mandate.
Dubois must register as a sexual offender, according to judicial records. The judge recommended that he received an evaluation for the treatment of sexual criminals in the state prison. Part of its minimum sentence could be suspended whether the evaluation completes, or if it concludes that it is not needed.
On Friday a comment was sent by email to his lawyer, Harry Starranch.
The Dubois website, which no longer seems to be working, had said that he is a best selling author of the New York Times that has written 29 novels. He co -written several of those with James Patterson, including “Cross Down”, “Count Down”, “The Summer House” and “Blowback”.
Severn River Publishing announced previously that he was eliminating his books from his website.
