Orlando, Florida – A Southwest Airlines flight almost took off from a shooting street, instead of a track, at a Central Florida airport on Thursday before an air traffic controller stopped the plane, authorities said.
No injuries were reported, and passengers who left the Orlando International Airport were housed in another plane that was heading to their destination in Albany, New York, the airline said in a statement. The plane changed to help facilitate investigation.
Southwest Flight 3278 had been clear for takeoff and started a take -off list on a shooting street after the crew confused the surface with the near track, authorities said. But air traffic controllers canceled authorization before the plane could take off.
The filming streets are routes used by the airplanes to move on the ground between doors, hangars and tracks. The clues are the long, generally paved areas, of airports specifically destined for take -offs and landings.
Southwest is working with the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transport Security Board.
“Nothing is more important for the southwest than the safety of our clients and employees,” said the airline in a statement.
