New York – The beloved duo of cartoons Phineas and Ferb return for new episodes this summer after a decade and almost nothing has changed. Except perhaps one thing.
“The more you you will notice the Phineas shirt has an extra line,” says cooker Jeff “Swampy” Marsh. Dan Povenmire, Marsh’s creative partner, adds: “It has not really been higher, but we are giving him the illusion of being higher.”
In addition to a fourth strip in the orange and white shirt of Phineas, “Phineas and Ferb” returns with all the characters that the viewers of the Z generation worshiped so much, including Perry The Playpus, the crazy scientist Dr. Doofenshmirtz, the wellly easily excitable sister Candice and the Bule Buford.
“We were a little worried at first, as if we are going to enter the writer’s room and simply get a lot ‘no, I did it.’ It has been great, fresh and new stories with these characters with which we are delighted. “
The series is restarted with Phineas and Ferb enjoying summer holidays, Doofenshmirtz returns to its bad roads (updates its social media state to the “evil again”, and Candace is once again in their eternal search to put in trouble their brothers.
“Isn’t it great? It’s like the old days,” says Doofenshmirtz.
The first two episodes of the 40 ordered the air of June 5 in Disney Channel and Disney XD, while the first complete batch of 10 episodes will be released in Disney+ as of June 6.
The decision to restart the series was obvious. According to Disney’s internal transmission data, the program has been transmitted about 650 million hours in Disney+ worldwide to date. According to Nielsen, “Phineas and Ferb” is among the 10 most viewed animated series on transmission platforms despite not offering new episodes in 10 years.
The show, which had four seasons between 2007 and 2015, focuses on the headcases, the triangular head phineas and the quiet Ferb, which avoided boredom by turning their backyard into things such as skiing stations, surfing beaches or hands in monster trucks.
Without the couple’s knowledge, Perry, its mute pet ornitorrinco, is a secret agent of the government with the name of P that a hat and a gabardina puts the world of Doofenshmirtz, with Povenmire’s voice.
The show is released to children and adults, mixing references to Nietzsche and Girl Scouts. Each episode also includes an original song, often very catchy, written by Povenmire and Marsh. (“The squirrels in my pants” is a proven winner).
“It’s something that the whole family can enjoy together,” says Marsh. “We pledged to never cut anything just because someone said it was too intelligent. We simply believed that children are smarter than you think.”
The idiosyncratic show had a hard delivery, created in 1993 but was not transmitted until 2007. Povenmire and Marsh, both veterans of shows such as “The Simpsons” and “Family Guy”, fell and fell and stayed with their vision.
“Every time we asked ourselves to put something, we always dust off this and say: ‘Well, here is the program we really want.’
The creators insisted on using not double understanding, they took out the bad music and refused to make idiots of moms and dads. Even the so -called villains, Candace and Doofenshmirtz are good, deep down.
“If you are trying to laugh, surprising someone or putting someone are the two easiest and cheaper laughs to get,” says Povenmire. “We had made this decision to make it better than the shows we had seen in the air at that time.”
The show has been a magnet for celebrity cameos and next season it is no different, with Michael Bublé, John Stamos, “Ted Lasso” starring Brendan Hunt and Christ Fernández, Alan Cumming, Leslie Jones, Anna Faris, Megan Rapinoe, Meghan coach and Ruth Negga doing spots for guests.
The inclination of Phineas and Ferb to build things such as a submarine sandwich submarine or a vaporizer machine over the years has had an unwanted effect, inspiring a generation of engineers.
When Povenmire visits universities, engineering students usually approach that their television program was the reason why they are studying the field. “So we expect a letter of thanks from all the engineering schools around the world,” jokes Marsh.
Marsh remembers the first time he realized that he and Povenmire had a blow to their hands. He was with his son on an outdoor skating track in Santa Monica at the beginning of the program’s career when a girl came skating, singing her song “S’winter”, a summer and winter mashup (a letter says: “You can freeze while you tan”),
“So I began to sing with her, and she returns and sings the whole song and then looks at me and she says: ‘Wow, how do you know that song?’ I said: ‘Well, I saw the program, “says Marsh. “It was the first time I had written, I heard someone else sing to me. It was like, ‘Very good!'”
