PBS has filed a lawsuit against the administration of President Donald Trump that defies his executive order aimed at the public transmission.
The demand for PBS, presented at the United States District Court in Washington, accuses the administration of illegally interfering with the operations of the Corporation for public transmission and committing multiple violations of the first amendment: discrimination of the point of view, illegal reprisals against the network and the invasion of PBS press freedoms. Demand also claims that the Administration has violated the Administrative Procedure Law.

The demand is filed by the network and its member station in northern Minnesota, Lakeland PBS. Follow the legal actions of NPR and the CPB, each of which seeks to block Trump’s efforts to dismantle federal support for public radio and television, the support that began with the approval of the Public Lady Law of 1967.
“The EO does not try to hide the fact that it is cutting the flow of funds to PBS due to the content of the PBS programming and the desire to alter the speech content,” says the demand. “That is the discrimination of the shameless point of view and an infraction of the private editorial discretion of the member stations of PBS and PBS.”
Triumph Signed the Executive Order Instruct the corporation for public transmission that “ceases direct funds to NPR and PBS” on its way to Florida aboard Air Force One on May 1.
The order blocks federal funds to NPR and PBS in the maximum extent allowed by law, According to an information sheet of the White House. It also prevents indirect financing from PBS and NPR by prohibiting local public radio and television stations, and any other CPB fund receiver, from the use of taxpayers’ dollars to support organizations. In addition, he instructs the Federal Communications Commission and the relevant agencies to investigate whether NPR and PBS have participated in illegal discrimination.
In the informative sheet, the White House affirms that the two news organizations “have fed the partisanship and propaganda of the left with dollars of the taxpayers.”
If it is allowed to enter into force, the executive order “would have deep impacts on the capacity of the PBS and PBS member stations to provide a rich programming uphill to all Americans,” says PBS complaint.
Trump alleged in the executive order that NPR and PBS have not been able to provide “just, precise, impartial and non -partisan news.” The two networks vehemently deny the position.
