Sunrise, Florida – The Florida Panthers have signed the Canadian singer Michael Buble, for a good cause.
Buble, five times GRAMMY winning pop icon, has been signed to be part of the team collection efforts for the American Cancer Society. The “Panthers On The Prowl” initiative It combines art and philanthropy to support cancer research and patient services, and donors have the opportunity to sponsor natural size panther sculptures that will be placed around southern Florida.
The program is a creation of the Panthers Hockey Operations President and General Manager Bill Zito and his wife Julie Zito.
“‘Panthers on the prowl’ is a creative, really great and edifying form of demonstrating and showing our support to those who suffer, so we can generate the necessary funds to maintain this fight,” Buble said. “Cancer touches us all, my family, friends, yours, neighbors, all. I joined my friend Bill Zito and the Florida Panthers and our entire NHL hockey community because I want to be part of the solution.”
The program was formally launched in March and has been supported by the famous artist Romero Britto along with NFL players, and the natives of southern Florida, Nick Bosa and Joey Bosa, among others.
Julie Zito is a cancer survivor, Bill Zito lost her mother and her sister for cancer, and the Zito family recently lost a friend close to cancer. The couple received inspiration for the art element of the Public Art Project initiative of the Cows On Parade in Chicago; Panthers project donors can decorate their Panther statuette in any way they want.
The team hopes to raise at least $ 1 million.
“It is in all our families and in all our friends,” said Zito, who joined the Panthers in 2020. “It makes me more determined not to achieve a goal for the good of the goal, but to achieve a goal to unite people.”
