Two months after his death, the poet Nikki Giovanni has been awarded one of the greatest honors for his art form, the Frost Medal for Life Achievement

New York – Two months after his death, poet Nikki Giovanni He has been awarded one of the greatest honors for his art form, the Frost Medal for Life Achievement.

Poetry Society of America said Wednesday that he had argued to give Giovanni award before his death. Giovanni died in December and is being honest posthumously.

“Nikki Giovanni faced himself as an essential and powerful figure in American literature and culture, author of three dozen poetry books, essays and writing of children,” reads partly the quotation of the poetry society. “With the vision and intelligence marked, the written works of Giovanni articulate the greatest hopes of our nation as a land where all are valued and all are free to be themselves and love whom they want to love.”

Presented for the first time in 1930, the medal is named Robert Frost and has been delivered to Wallace Stevens, Allen Ginsberg and Adrienne Rich, among others.
