Myrtle Beach, SC – A shooting in the popular tourist city of South Carolina of Myrtle Beach left 11 people injured, and the police fatally shot a person, authorities said.
Myrtle Beach officers responded to a disturbance that involved multiple people on Saturday night when someone began shooting a gun. In a statement, the department said that “based on the immediate threat,” an officer then shot a person, who died from his wounds.
The person’s name was not immediately released, and it was not clear if they were suspicious. A telephone message was sent with the Myrtle Beach Police to the Division of Application of the South Carolina Law, which did not immediately return an email on Sunday.
The department said 11 people who suffered injuries received medical treatment.
