Buenos Aires – The star of Argentina, Lionel Messi, will miss the two classification matches of the South America World Cup against Uruguay and Brazil.
Messi, 37, was not included in the 25 -men team announced Monday by coach Lionel Scaloni.
The media reports said it was due to a muscle injury, but the Argentine Football Association did not reveal the reasons for the absence of Messi.
The reports said he suffered the injury on Sunday during the 2-1 victory of Inter Miami over Atlanta United in the MLS.
The Argentine leader plays in Uruguay on Friday and then receives Brazil three days later in Buenos Aires.
