Columbus, Ohio – Max Arfsten scored in the 61st minuteSean Zawadzki added his first goal of the season and Patrick Schulte had five salvages on Saturday night to help Columbus’s crew to overcome San José’s earthquakes 2-1.
Arfsten showed an elegant feet game, highly step on the left side of the area and finally caused defender Max Floriani to fall when his upward shot from the corner of the 6 -yard box slipped under the cross bar to cover the score.
Zawadski made a sliding finishredirected a free kick played to the distant post on the left side by Diego Rossi back inside the near post to give the crew a 1-0 advantage in the 29th minute.
Beau Leroux played a ball to Josef Martínez, who slipped behind the defense and, while goalkeeper Patrick Schulte left his line, chipped on the network from near the left corner of the 6 -yard box. Martínez has scored in consecutive games and has five of his six goals this season in the last four games, starting with a Hat Trick in a 6-1 victory over San José on April 6.
San José (3-6-1) has lost three consecutive games and is 1-6-1 after consecutive victories to open the season.
Columbus (6-1-3) had a streak of three consecutive victories in the last time with a 1-0 loss against Inter Miami, finishing an eight-consecutive chain without defeat.
