Washington – Josh Bell and Nathaniel Lowe Jonronaron, and Washington’s nationals avoided a sweep of the season’s opening series with a 5-1 victory over the Philadelphia Philis on Sunday.
Bell, who had 0 of 9 to start his second period with Washington, started a fast ball from Aaron Nola in the central field seats for a three -run homer in the fourth entrance. Lowe ended Nola’s day with a two -run at the center in the sixth.
Washington Mitchell Parker’s starter (1-0) put two runners in each of the first three entries, but escaped problems every time. He launched 6 1/3 entries without score, allowing seven hits and struggling to five.
Kyle Finnegan entered with the bases loaded and none in the ninth, allowing a RBI Grounder before withdrawing the next two batters for their first rescue.
Nola (0-1) allowed five races and six hits in 5 1/3 tickets while strucking eight.
Paul Dejong had three hits for Washington. The rookie Dylan Crews struck out in his three appearances on the plate a day after going 0 by 5 with five strikeouts. He is 0 for 11 this season.
The Realmuto JT receptor (bruised foot) and the Trea Turner campocort (rear spasms) did not play for the philis. Realmuto committed a ball of a ball of himself on Saturday and left in the seventh, while Turner lost his second consecutive game.
José A. Ferrer inherited two Parker runners in the seventh and hit Kyle Schwarber to load the bases. A launch after a visit by the launch coach Jim Hickey, Ferrer induced the double input game of Alec Bohm to end the threat.
Including the six whitled entrances of Mackenzie Gore in the first game and the performance of five races and five Jake Irvin tickets on Saturday, Washington Starters recorded an effectiveness of 1.03 in the opening series.
