New York – New York (AP) – Alice keysDolly Parton and Diamond Neil – Apart. The next musical icon to turn your songs into a stage musical will be James Taylor.
Taylor will feed the songs “Fire AND Rain, ”a musical announced on Monday, in development with a story of the playwright and actor Tracy Letts and direction of the winner of the Tony David Cromer award.
“Fire and Rain” is one of Taylor’s most emblematic songs, released in 1970 on her second album, “Sweet Baby James.” It reached number 3 in the Billboard Hot 100. Other successes include “you have a friend” and “how sweet it is.”
The timeline was not revealed when “fire AND The rain ”will organize for the first time.
Taylor has won six grammys and is a member of the rock AND Roll Hall of Fame and The Songwriters Halls of Fame. He is the first artist to have a Billboard 10 album in each of the last six decades.
Letts won a Pulitzer award and a Tony Award for writing “August: Osage County” and his other works include “Bug”, “Killer Joe”, “Superior Donuts” and “The Minutes”. Cromer has directed two of Letts’s works: “Bug” and “Man of Nebraska”.
Taylor joins a growing list of musical artists who have resorted to the stage.
Parton is writing New songs to accompany some of his past successes and co -write a stage story inspired by his life for a musical on stage that hopes to land on Broadway in 2026. Diamond, Keys, Michael Jackson, Carole King and Gloria and Emilio Estefan All obtained biographical musicals in Broadway.
Taylor will join pop and rock luminaries like Elton John, Cyndi Lauper, The go-hs, Sting,Alanis Morissette, Dave Stewart, Edie Brickell, Trey Anastasio, David Byrne and Fatboy Slim and Bonus and the edge With Broadway scores.
