Gotham FC defeats the UANL Tigres to become the first winner of the Concacaf Champions Cup

Monterrey, Mexico – The Spain of Spain, Esther González, scored a late goal when Gotham FC defeated the Uanl Tigres 1-0 on Saturday to win the first edition of the Concacaf Champions Cup.

The 32 -year -old striker González assured the historical victory with a goal in the 82nd minute for the NWSL team.

Previously, Pietra Tordin, Payton Linnehan and Olivia Mourtie scored when Portland Thorns beat Club América 3-0 to secure third place in the tournament.

Tordin opened the scoring just before part time, Linnehan added a second in 52 and Moultrie sealed the victory in 81.

Gotham FC defeated Club America 3-1 on Wednesday to advance to the final, while Tigres, who lost in the quarterfinals of Mexican closure, defeated the Portland Thorns 2-0 in his semifinal.

The W Champions Cup is the Annual Women’s Club championship in the region and will serve as the qualification event for the Women’s Champions FIFA Cup, which is launched next year.
