Fire in London Electrical substation closes the Heathrow Airport

A fire in an electrical substation near the Heathrow London airport has closed one of the most busy airports in the world.

Heathrow Airport said the fire in the substation, which supplies energy to the airport, has caused a “significant energy cut” and is expected to be closed until 11:59 PM, local time on Friday night.

British Airways, who has a center at Heathrow airport, said he is advising travelers who do not go to the airport and who are working to notify passengers their travel options for the next 24 hours and more as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, incoming flights to Heathrow are being redirected to other United Kingdom airports, authorities said.

“Due to an energy cut in the London Heathrow area, London Heathrow Airport is currently closed,” British Airways said. “As a result, customers traveling from Heathrow on Friday will not travel to the airport to more information. This will clearly have a significant impact on our operation and our clients and we are working as quickly as possible to update them in their travel options during the next 24 hours and beyond.”

The fire has caused an energy cut that affects a large number of homes and businesses and has led to some evacuations, said the Fire Brigade. Firefighters took 29 people to the safety of neighboring properties and, as a caution, established a cord around the area and evacuated some 150 people.

“This is a very visible and significant incident, and our firefighters are working tireless statement Shortly before 2 am, local time.

The cause of the fire is not yet known, said the fire brigade.
