Chester, NY – A city official in the state of New York was arrested after the state police said he shot and wounded a delivery driver who lost and approached his home looking for instructions.
John Reilly, the highway superintendent in Chester, a city of almost 60 miles (96 kilometers) north of Manhattan, was accused on Saturday of assault in the first degree and criminal possession of a firearm.
The State Police says that the Dortash driver had been trying to deliver food to a residence in the Reilly neighborhood on Friday night, when it was lost and could not navigate with the application.
They say that the driver approached several houses asking for instructions before arriving at Reilly’s residence.
“Reilly told the victim to leave his property, before shooting multiple shots to the victim while trying to go in his vehicle, hitting the victim once on the back, causing serious physical injuries,” said the state police.
