Boston – Bryan Woo spread three hits in six innings, and Seattle sailors labeled the ace of the Red Hostem Garrett Garrett Crochet for four races in the first two tickets on Thursday to beat Boston 4-3 and win the series of three games.
Leo Rivas and JP Crawford had a couple of successes for the sailors, who have won 10 of their last 13 games. Woo (3-1) struck out eight while allowing two races and a walk. Randy Arozarena had three walks.
Mitch Garver led a couple of races with a double entrance of the edge of the central field of the green monster. Seattle loaded the bases with no one in the second in two singles and a walk, then scored a pair in a sacrifice fly by Dylan Moore and a land of Julio Rodríguez.
Crochet (2-2) allowed four races in five hits, five bases per ball and a balk, struggling nine in five innings. Alex Bregman had two hits, including a solitary home run, for Boston. Carlos Narváez hit a solo shot in the annoying post in the eighth to cut Seattle’s advantage to 4-3.
Andrés Muñoz launched the ninth for his ninth rescue, ending with a punch that sent Kristian Campbell’s bat by turning to the campocorto.
After Narváez made him a game of a career, Gabe Speier got Jarren Duran on the ground until the second, then struck Rafael Devers before Trent Thornton enters and got Bregman to hit a emerging window behind the second base.
Rivas returned to the central garden and turned, but made the capture, stabbing the ball to grab it at the waist level.
Crochet had career maximums with five walks and 100 pitches. He had allowed a race and struck out 18 in 13 1/3 combined entries on his two previous openings.
Marineros: Go home to receive the Miami Marlins in a series of three games. The right Logan Gilbert (1-1, 2.63 effectiveness) will face Cal Quantrill (1-2, 8.31) in the starter.
Red Sox: begins a series of three games in Cleveland, with RHP Tanner Houck (0-2, 7.66) in front of the RHP Ben Lively guardians (1-2, 3.86).
