Bowling Green, Ohio – Bowling Green, Ohio (AP) – Bowling green The former NFL corridor hired and Tennessee State coach Eddie George Sunday as coach in chief of the Falcons.
George was four times NFL Pro Bowl corridor and an All-Pro, and was the offensive rookie of the 1996 NFL AP after winning the 1995 Heisman trophy in the state of Ohio.
George was the chief coach for the last four years in Tennessee State, where the coach of the year of the Big South-Ohio Valley conference was appointed last season. George took the Tigers to a part of the league championship and a position in the Playoffs of the soccer championship series. He was also runner -up of the National Coach Award Eddie Robinson.
He is the 21 coach in the history of the Falcons and replaces Scot Loeffler, who left Bowling Green after six seasons to become the Field Marshal coach of the Philadelphia Eagles.
Bowling Green president Rodney K. Rogers said George has adopted the innovation and growth of his career, both inside and outside football.
“Eddie is in a unique position to bring this mentality to our football program, taking advantage of our impulse and generating emotion in this changing panorama of university sports,” Rogers said in a statement. “In addition to his experience as a successful chief coach of DI, Eddie deeply comprises the holistic development of students-matters both in sport and in life, and we are excited about his leadership of this program.”
In his career, George has been an actor who appeared on Broadway in New York, along with other commercial interests. He has also taught as an attached professor in his state of Alma Mater Ohio and the University of Vanderbilt. George interviewed the NFL Chicago Bears For your chief coach inaugurated in January.
He took over the state of Tennessee with the Tigers averaging only three victories a year during the four previous seasons. He took them to consecutive winning records in 2023 and 2024 for the first time since 2016-17. Tennessee State was 9-3 in 2024 for most victories since 2013 and a ranking No. 19 nationwide. He has 24-22 as a chief coach.
“I am overwhelmed by the emotion and joy for the possibilities that this opportunity has,” George said. “I am also delighted to return to the great state of Ohio, where I played my university football. I hope to meet the team, the coaches, all in the Athletics Department and all in the BGSU and Bowling Green community.”
George spent the 2004 season with the Dallas Cowboys before retiring in 2006. He finished with 10,441 yards per earth with 268 caught for 2,227 yards and had 78 total touchdowns. It was included in the College football hall of 2011. His wife Tamara “Taj” George is a member of the group’s sisters with Voices (SWV) and have two children.
The director of Athletics of the State of Tennessee, Mikki Allen, thanked George for the base that sat at the beginning of a new search. Allen is driving the coach’s interim tasks until George’s replacement is hired.
