Sony’s CEO, Tom Rothman, encouraged film owners to be creative with discounts from Monday to Friday, and Sony Adam Bergerman’s executive made the case to keep films in theaters for longer.
The convention leaves a cry of the Oscar rally for watching movies in cinemas.
Although a more complete launch calendar is expected this year compared to the 2024 exhausted calendar thanks to Dual Historical Strikes, Hollywood marked the first quarter of 2025 with considerable box office deficit. Sales have dropped 11% from the same point in 2024, and almost 40% of 2019, according to the Comscore media analysis company.
