Melbourne, Australia – Australian comedian and actor Magda Szubanski, better known for the papers in the television comedy “Kath and Kim” and the movie “Babe”, announced Thursday that she had been diagnosed with a rare and aggressive way of blood cancer.
The 64 -year -old Melbourne resident published on social networks that the treatment for stage four had begun. Mantle cell lymphomathat she described as a “rare and rapid blood cancer.”
“It is serious, but I have started one of the best available treatments (the Nordic protocol), and I am lucky to have absolutely world -class attention here in Melbourne,” Szubanski published.
“I will not sweeten it: it’s hard. But I hope. I am being treated with love for friends and family, my medical team is brilliant and I have never felt more sustained by the people around me,” he added.
Szubanski said he had shaved his head before appearing in a video “in advance of everything, he fell in a couple of weeks.” That was an apparent reference to undergo chemotherapy.
Szubanski received international praise for his role as wife of farmer Esme Hoggett in the 1995 film “Babe”. The film that tells the story of a pig who wants the work of a shepherd dog was nominated for seven academy awards.
Szubanski repeated the role in the 1998 sequel: “Babe: Pig in the City.”
He played Sharon Strzelecki sports lover in the Australian comedy “Kath and Kim”. The series operated from 2002 to 2005 and inspired a new American version with the same name.
Szubanski expressed the role of Miss Viola in the animated films “Happy Feet” in 2006 and “Happy Feet Two” in 2011. Both were produced and directed by George Miller.
Szubanski was born in Liverpool, England, on April 12, 1961, and moved to Melbourne with his family in 1966.
