Eugene, ore. – Aaron Walton connected three home runs and led six races on Sunday night, which led Arizona to a 14-0 victory over Cal Poly and a position in the Super Regional.
Maddox Mihalakis added two home runs and led three races. Tommy Splaine added a two-run homer and also led three races for the Wildcats (42-18).
Walton was Arizona’s second player to hit three homers in a game in the regional. Mason White hit Tres outside on Saturday against Utah Valley.
The Wildcats will play in the Super Regional for the sixth time and have 4-1 in their previous appearances.
Walton made Arizona start with a two -run homer in a first five -run input. In the second entrance, he hit another two-run shot and Mihalakis added a solitary home run to put the 8-0.
Walton added a third two-run shot that did 10-0 in the sixth entrance and Splaline was deep for two races in the seventh. Mihalakis added a two -run shot in the eighth.
Four combined pitchers for the bleached. The Smith Bailey starter (3-3) was six entries and allowed four hits. Hunter Alberini, Julian Tonghini and Matthew Martínez launched an entrance each, allowing a total of two hits.
Cal Poly’s opener, Ethan Marmie (4-4), launched a batter at the second entrance and was accused of six races.
Nate Castellon had two hits for the Mustangs (43-19).
