New York – Stephen Curry won another NBA award on Monday, being voted as teammate Twyman-Stokes of the year by his teammates in the League.
Already twice MVP of the NBA and the leader of the League in triples, Curry was honest this time for his “selfless game, leadership on and off the court as a mentor and model to follow for other NBA players, and the commitment and dedication to the team.”
Curry has spent his entire 16 -year -old career with the Golden State Warriors, helping them win four championships, and is one of the most popular players in the League.
He received 66 votes in the first place and 1,257 total points to overcome the veteran center of Houston Steven Adams, who appeared on more ballots and ended with 46 votes of the first place and 1,237 points. Jalen Brunson, the New York Knicks captain who won the Clutch player of the year Prize, third finished.
A league executive panel chose 12 finalists for the award and current players voted from the list.
The award, presented since 2013, has been the name of Jack Twyman and Maurice Stokes, who were teammates in Rochester/Cincinnati’s real 1955-58.
Stokes suffered a brain injury in the final game of the regular season of 1957-58, fell into a coma days later and was permanently paralyzed. Twyman became Stokes’ tutor and legal defender, and supported him for the rest of his life.
Curry also won the NBA Sports Award in 2011.
The rookie of the year will be announced on Tuesday and the most improved player on Wednesday.
