Evans, Georgia – Two Columbia County agents were shot during a traffic stop on Saturday night, and one of them is dead, officials said responsible for enforcing the law.
The Columbia County Sheriff’s office confirmed death around 6:30 pm of the deputy and said the other deputy was taken to a hospital, the WDRW television station reported.
The suspect was identified as James Blake Montgomery, who was in a caravan near Milla 194 marker in Belair Road, said Columbia County agents.
The helicopters and drones are in the air while the authorities work to capture Montgomery, the deputies said.
The officers on the police radio were heard saying to take a photo of the suspect “in the trailer,” Wdrw said. Apparently, the approach was the community of mobile houses of Arrowood in WrightBoro Road about three blocks west of Jimmie Dyess Parkway, said the television station.
Governor Brian Kemp issued A statement about x About the shooting.
“Marty, the girls and I are praying for the loved ones and colleagues of the Sheriffs of Columbia Deputy County who has fallen into the fulfillment of duty, as well as his fellow agent of the law injured tonight while protecting his co -workers,” Kemp said. “As they remain in our hearts and prayers, we also painfully remember why those who use a badge have gained more than our last respect and appreciation.”
