Red Stick, the. Flau’jae Johnson scored 22 points, Aneesah Morrow had 12 points and 12 rebounds, and Losu overwhelmed the state of San Diego 103-48 on Saturday night in the first round of the NCAA Women’s Tournament.
Morrow increased his leading Double-Double leader in his first game in his first game since he hurt his left foot during a defeat of March 8 against Texas in the Southeast Conference Tournament.
Johnson, who lost that tournament with an injury to the right pimple, carried a compression sleeve on his lower leg, but exhibited the explosiveness, the touch of shooting and the general style style that has made it one of the most popular players in female university basketball.
Mikaylah Williams added 13 points for LSU (29-5), the third seed in the Spokane 1 region, which becomes host of the state of Florida No. 6 in a second round match on Monday night.
The state of San Diego (25-10), winner of the Mountain West conference, did not have a single player score up to 10 points. Adryana cheezado led the Aztecs with eight.
LSU began the game with a 11-0 race crowned by the robbery and the Johnson tray, which celebrated when blowing a kiss towards the student section behind the basket.
Smyah Smith’s tray put 31-10 only two minutes in the second quarter, and LSU led 32 in the first half when Morrow’s jumper limited a 7-0 race.
State of San Diego: The Aztecs had won eight in a row to reach their first NCAA tournament since 2012, when SDSU also lost a first round game against LSU in Baton Rouge. This trip was not better due to the size of the tigers and the defensive game. After firing 43.6% throughout the season, the Aztecs made only 32% (18 of 56) of their shots against LSU and were exceeded 53-31.
LSU: After obtaining the rest they needed, the tigers had their complete complement to healthy players and did not waste their time establishing their supremacy at both ends of the court. LSU shot 59% in the first half and made six of its first 10 shots from depth. The only real question in the second half was how big the final margin would be. The Tigers fired 50% (36 of 72) for the game and finished 10 of 18 from the range of 3 points.
LSU scored 25 points of 19 SDSU ball losses. The Aztecs had two points of the 11 ball losses of the Tigers.
LSU aims to advance to the third round of the NCAA tournament for a third consecutive season, a streak that began during his career for the national title of 2023. Last season, the Tigers advanced to Elite 8 before losing to Iowa.
